Target Population: Both M.S. and Ph.D. candidates
Student-led research often results in senior-authored publications for the student in peer-reviewed journals.
- Critical thinking, reading and writing, and presentation in biology, including the ability to design experiments, the use of appropriate techniques in performance and analysis of experiments, writing publishable manuscripts, and presentation of results in a seminar and/or poster format.
Publications are objective evidence that the student is reaching the goals set by our graduate program. Major advisors usually keep these records.
Changes Made on Basis of Findings
We are considering having a centralized record of student publications (for example on our web site) so it can be more easily accessed by members of the department, as well as by other departments and prospective students.
