Figure 1 shows that all student outcomes ((a)~(k) and EMG1) satisfied the program outcome goals (reaching the normalized score 1) for the last two years, so no particular changes are suggested.

Figure 2 provides the summary of the normalized scores for the student outcomes from our previous analysis (Fall 2012~Spring 2014), where all student outcomes had satisfied the program outcome goals except Outcomes (b) and (k). As the normalized scores for Outcomes (b) and (k) were lower than 1, more detailed evaluations were conducted.
Early evaluation of the Outcome (b) metric for SIE 265 showed a low average score of 46% (see Table 1).

The SIE 265 class project consists of nine parts that incrementally builds a financial analysis to determine the economic feasibility of introducing a new product and then finally to determine if financially the product should be developed in house or outsourced. The metric looks at the score for the final project (Project 9) but the success of the final project is dependent on the success of the previous eight projects (Project 1 through Project 8).
An analysis was initiated to determine the root cause for the low scores on the SIE 265 Outcome (b) metric. Following the root cause analysis corrective actions were defined in an attempt to improve the scores. There were three corrective actions initiated as a result of the analysis. Table 2 summarizes the root cause analysis and corrective actions.

As a result of the corrective actions the average metric score for Academic Years 2014~2015 and 2015~2016 is 79%, a 33% increase over the average metric score from Academic Year 2013~2014. The metric will continue to be monitored and additional corrective actions will be initiated as necessary. Our assessment data has been collected at the end of each semester (the latest one was Spring 2017), and the findings from assessments will be discussed in our annual faculty retreat on August 19, 2017. The assessment findings and suggested changes will be documented and updated soon after the faculty retreat.
