Film and Television: Undergraduate Programs

Overview: 

The BA and the BFA  in Film and Television require a 5-course Foundation in the three areas of study; history/aesthetics, the industry, and production. Courses include; FTV 100a Film and TV History, Beginning to Mid-20th Century; FTV 100b Film and TV History, Mid-20th Century to Present; FTV 200 Film & TV Aesthetics; FTV 210 Introduction to Production Practices; and FTV 270 Introduction to Film & TV Industries. Students seeking acceptance into the major or minor in Film and Television must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 to apply. In addition, students must meet “Advanced Standing” requirements to advance to upper level courses. The requirements for Advanced Standing are: the completion of at least 40 credit hours, the completion of the five Film & Television core courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at The University of Arizona. Advanced Standing was implemented in 1993 to ensure academic rigor and to control enrollments.
