Outcomes assessment of academic programs is organized within colleges. Each college has an Outcomes Assessment Coordinator, often an Associate Dean, who manages efforts within the college and works with department coordinators to ensure that assessment activities are proceeding. In most colleges, each department has one or more designated assessment coordinators as well.
About half the colleges, along with a number of individual departments and schools, are subject to assessment by outside accreditors, including the colleges of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Business and Public Administration, Nursing, and Pharmacy, and the Schools of Art, Music and Dance, and Theatre Arts in the College of Fine Arts. For these units, assessment materials are often in mandated formats.
