Entomology: Graduate Programs

Record of positions obtained by major advisors

Target Population: Alumni of our program

It is customary for our faculty to follow the careers of their students. These records are ordinarily kept by individual faculty.

Outcomes Measured

  • Fundamental knowledge of Entomology, including a broad and thorough understanding of the diversity, ecology and physiology of insects.
  • Critical thinking, reading and writing, and presentation in biology, including the ability to design experiments, the use of appropriate techniques in performance and analysis of experiments, writing publishable manuscripts, and presentation of results in a seminar and/or poster format.

We have a high rate of placement of our students in Ph.D. programs or Masters level positions (for Masters candidates) and in postdoc positions and faculty positions (for Ph.D. candidates). However, when we need this information (e.g. for an APR) we need to ask individual faculty to retrieve it.

Changes Made on Basis of Findings

We are likely to make a central depository for this information, perhaps with the Graduate Coordinator. A summary of this information without names or details could then be made available on our department web site.
