Changes Made on Basis of Findings

First semester Freshmen whose overall GPA was below 2.0 were placed on probation and automatically entered into a reguired course called Success in Science. This course includes sessions on time management, stress management, studying in groups, etc. The course was taught in 4 sections by Academic Advisors in the College of Science and there were 16-19 students per section.

For most majors, registration blocks were also added to the student accounts of all students on probation to force them to come in for mandatory advising. Some students were also placed on contracts to provide more intensive advising with the goal to help prevent them from becoming disqualified.
